The Brain Flash

Going back to that moment in time where your brain flashed and everything stopped is a different journey every time...
That moment where the [impulse] was born and that led to a series of back-to-back brain flashes that created the very first spark of movement exploration...

A visual representation documented only moments after the [impulse]

It's true what they say about that [impulse], that it holds no purpose at the moment it's born and that its future is unknown. But if the impulse and the will to explore it are strong enough, then those magical moments of brain flashes will continue to burst inside your mind, creating images and feelings that propel you to stand up and start moving.
And that is when a [choreographic intention] is born anew and you can give the opportunity of another exploration to yourself.

What happened from that point onwards was [whirlwind], a [vortex], of ideas that started accumulating one on top of the other:

"For the Professional Choreographic Development Project I would like to explore body movement initiated by another element; wind. The wind is powerful, fluid, at times it is scary and other times it is refreshing. When looking at the effect wind has on a tree, for example, I cannot help but wonder how this effect can be passed on to the human body. Apart from the literal meaning and effect of the wind on a tree (or the human body replacing the tree in this case), there is also the allegorical and metaphorical meaning of being blown by the wind, being transported by the wind. How can a human being allow himself/herself to be tossed around by life (the wind) and how can he/she managed to put down some roots in order to have a standing ground while allowing room for the wind to breathe within? (but not destroy all that is)." - Excerpt from the original project proposal that was submitted

The only thing I decided to keep similar to my research project at the Kinitiras Choreography Lab was the fact the the [impulse], the [choreographic intention] and the initiation of the [movement] will all be based on one single element.
That is why this is going to be the second choreographic project in a series of projects that will all be based on one element; could be called the element-projects.

The main idea behing this step is the following:

"On a more personal choreographic note, as I mentioned above, I want to produce a series of choreographic projects that are initiated by one single element, and the Professional Choreographic Development Project will provide me with the opportunity to continue this work. The way I have thought about it, is to choose one element at a time that is completely different from elements having been chosen in the rest of the “element-projects”, in order to give myself the opportunity to explore and create completely different movement every time. I want the body movement to go to places it has never explored before, thus distancing myself completely from my comfort zone." - Excerpt from the original project proposal that was submitted

In the weeks that have followed that moment of [impulse] which led to the [intention] and the written documentation of the proposal, more brain flashes have occured and the direction of this project is growing as time passes by - with the exception of the beginning of classes and work which has slowed things down a little bit. This is something I really need to work on right now; negotiate my time in terms of the advancement of this project.
This week was a fresh start for the project in the midst of everything so I'm optimistic that this will start flowing like the [wind] once again...
